A floating platform was built on a lake to clear debris in the aftermath of Hurricane Helene.

Footage shows crews led by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers, in partnership with FEMA and other agencies, assembling the flat horizontal surface made of interlocking modules at Lake Lure, North Carolina.

They said the platform is designed to enable the safe and efficient removal of debris scattered across the water's surface and along the banks.

Hurricane Helene has claimed more than 100 lives and caused extensive damage to roads and bridges, resulting in severe flooding from Florida to Virginia.

Authorities have stated that damage estimates range from 15 billion USD to over 100 billion USD, as water systems, communications, and critical transportation routes have been severely affected.
