Woman sparks outrage by standing in parking space to reserve spot
A woman sparked outrage among drivers when she defiantly stood at a parking space to reserve it despite being asked to move.
The alleged parking hog, later identified as Cheng Dizon, ignored furious motorists telling her to leave as she talked on her phone at the cemetery in Manila, the Philippines, on November 1.
Footage shows the woman in a pink tank top and pants gesturing for a car to make a turn while another cemetery-goer shouts at her. They said they were visiting their late relatives and distressed at having a confrontation over parking with the space hogger.
One of the angry drivers said to her in the video: 'I need to pick up my mother. I'm in a hurry. My mother is alone. I need to pick her up.'
Moments later, a security guard arrived to intervene, and only then she began speaking with the people.
She said to the guard: 'I arrived here first.'
The angry woman cut her and said: 'If something happens to my mother, you will be the one to blame.'
Another woman eventually pushed her out of the way, and everybody cheered.
She remained nearby, refusing to leave, still speaking with someone on her phone afterwards.
Cheng later said: 'I was with my senior father, with kids and a baby. I did not know that it was illegal.'
While no law in the Philippines makes it illegal to reserve a parking spot by standing on it, the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority said it is not in line with parking regulations.
