Rio de Janeiro, Brazil - Recent Brazil and China can share wisdom on livelihood issues such as poverty eradication and the union of G20 members is crucial to the global fight against poverty and hunger, said a senior Brazilian official. The 19th G20 Summit is scheduled for Nov 18 to 19 in Rio de Janeiro, under the theme of "building a just world and a sustainable planet." In an interview with China Global Television Network (CGTN) prior to the summit, Brazilian Minister of Institutional Affairs Alexandre Padilha shared his expectations on the G20 Summit and Brazil's steps towards poverty eradication. If we do not have the union of the G20 nations in the world to join the fight against poverty, in the reduction of inequality, and in the fight against hunger, we will not achieve this success. Brazil and China have a lot to share about this. Brazil, under President Lula's government, wants to end hunger in Brazil. In the first two years of President Lula's government, we have already taken 20 million Brazilians out of hunger. We want to end the 4 years of President Lula's government with Brazil off the hunger map. China has also been making much movement in recent decades to lift people out of poverty, to end hunger in China. So, Brazil and China have a lot to show to the world on how to end hunger and reduce poverty worldwide."; [SHOT OVERLAYING SOUNDBITE] FILE: Guarulhos, Sao Paulo, Brazil - Aug 26, 2022 5.
