Elephant with an injured leg receives some TLC
An elephant with an injured leg received some TLC while playing with its caretakers in Malaysia.
The juvenile jumbo named Elly wore a leg cast on its right front limb to treat its broken bones but still had fun with conservationists in Pahang, Malaysia.
Footage shows Elly letting Nik Aidil Marina, one of the volunteers at the animal camp, rubbing the female elephant's head.
Elly touched Nik's hand with its trunk and was given snacks to enjoy.
Nik said: 'I like to play with my baby elephant Elly who is gentle and loving.'
Malaysia has a long history of domesticated elephants, once used in the palaces of Malay Sultans. While the tradition faded in the 19th century, it was revived in 1974. Today, the country maintains a registration scheme for captive elephants, primarily in zoos.
