Heroic Mother Cow Shields Newborn Calf from Fire
On November 26, at a farm in Dalian, Liaoning, China, an extraordinary act of maternal love was caught on camera. A cow, having just given birth and too weak to stand, risked its life to protect its newborn calf from a nearby fire.
Surveillance footage shows the mother cow crawling on its knees toward the flames, using its body as a shield to block the smoke and fire from reaching the vulnerable calf. The fire had been lit by the farmer, Mr. Gong, to provide warmth during the cold weather, but the protective mother instinctively moved to shield her baby from the perceived danger.
Thankfully, within 30 seconds, Mr. Gong’s mother noticed the situation and extinguished the fire, ensuring the cow and calf’s safety. While the mother cow sustained minor burns to its hindquarters, it is now recovering well.
