A schoolboy showed off his incredible humanoid horse costume at an annual class celebration.

The youngster, Regel Suaybagiuo, made the suit showing a traditional folk creature called a tikbalang with classmates and teacher Marloue Mahumot for their English Month celebration, which featured Filipino traditions and culture in Bohol province.

Footage shows Regel striding with ten-inch shoes that resembled the hoofs of the tikbalang on November 22. He had a handcrafted horn headdress with a face of a horse while his fingers had long fake nails as he held a wooden staff with leaves.

Regel's pants had tree fibres woven on them to make it look like fur, with a long tail.

Teacher Marloue said: 'We chose the tikbalang to portray because it is unique. I immediately conceptualised the design of the costume and the materials needed while also incorporating indigenous and creative elements since we are promoting Philippine characters.'

Regel joined a parade later with a mountain fairy and a tree giant.

The tikbalang is a mythical creature from Filipino folklore, often described as a tall, humanoid figure with the head and legs of a horse and the body of a man.
