The father of Russian actress who as swept to her death by a rogue wave on a Thai island attended her funeral today.

Kamilla Belyatskaya, 24, was killed when she was relaxing on a pink foam yoga mat at the Lad Koh viewpoint on Koh Samui on November 29. Her dead body was found on the beach two days later.

The actress' devastated father and fiance attended her funeral at the island's local Buddhist temple today.

Kamilla's devastated partner Grigorii Anokhin, 47, said: 'I was still praying for a miracle, that my fiance would be found alive. I'm devastated, I'm heartbroken. We were going to get married in a few days.'

Grigorii said that Kamilla had played tennis at their hotel resort before stopping by the reach to relax.

He added: 'I only found out what had happened from social media. I was devastated and immediately went to the area to help look for her.

'I have been with my girlfriend for five years and we were planning to have a wedding in mid-December. We had already taken pre-wedding photos in the hope of living together when we returned to Russia.'

Officers said that rescue teams arrived moments after Kamilla was dragged into the sea. But they could only see her pink yoga mat floating in the surf and the conditions were too dangerous for them to enter the water.

Jet skis, normally rented to tourists on the nearby beach, had also been moved inland due to the choppy sea conditions.

Police eventually dispatched two jet skis to search the stretch of coastline. Rescue teams were also sent out on foot to nearby beaches.

The search was called off at nightfall and resumed on Saturday morning.

Police said they received a report about the body from staff at a nearby hotel in the early hours of Sunday morning.

Officers led tourist police, doctors, and paramedics to the scene whey they discovered Kamilla's corpse around 0.62 miles from where she was pulled into the water.

Her body was discovered lying face up with blood on her face, from where the waves had swept her against the rocks. She was wearing a white long-sleeved top, shorts, and an Apple Watch.

Police Senior Sergeant Major Suporn Hemrangsee said: ‘We took her body for an autopsy at Koh Samui Hospital. 'We also informed her parents in Russia to retrieve her body for religious ceremonies.

'The tourist was caught off guard by the large wave, which was sudden and unexpected.

'Life guards could not immediately enter the water as the conditions were too dangerous.

'The obstacle to entering the sea was the high waves. They were two or three meters high and the conditions were very rough, which may have caused the tourist to lose strength.

'There are warning flags on the beaches during this time of the year. It is not safe for tourists to enter the water. They should not get too close to the sea.'
