A schoolgirl dangling 60ft high from the inner rim of a Ferris wheel was rescued in India.

The 13-year-old girl lost her balance when the ride suddenly stopped, and she was thrown out of the gondola in Uttar Pradesh on December 4.

Footage shows the youngster clinging to the metal wires. She stood and laid horizontally on the narrow wires to carefully balance as it rotated to take her back to the bottom.

Another fairground-goer was seen trying to help the girl, motioning at her what to do until they were safely at the base.

Sub District Magistrate Rajiv Nigam said: 'The girl was safe and unharmed.'

Authorities investigated after the incident and found that the ride's operators did not have proper permits.

The investigation into the safety and regulation of the amusement ride is ongoing.

In Kannauj region earlier this year, a teenager was scalped when her hair was entangled in the wheels of a Ferris wheel.
