A blizzard brought heavy snow to Erie, Pennsylvania, with up to 55 inches falling over the past three days.

Footage shows resident Steve Weston using his mini excavator to clear snow in Franklin Township on December 5.

He said: 'I couldn't keep up with shoveling, so I had to bring out my mini excavator to clear a path off the back deck.

'Normally, there are four steps leading to the deck, but as you can see, I drove the mini right on it!'

An Arctic front and snow squalls are causing disruptions across the Northeast and Midwest, with Erie particularly affected.

A blizzard warning remains in effect until 1 am EST on Saturday.

The region is bracing for snow accumulations of 10 to 18 inches north of Interstate 90 (I-90) and 12 to 20 inches south of it.
