This is the amusing moment a toddler struggled to recognise his father from his identical twin brother.

Gou Er, an eleven-month-old boy, was confused about who his dad was when his parent, Da Hu, and his twin, Xiao Hu, both called out to the child for a hug in Henan, China, on September 16.

Footage shows the grandfather carrying the boy while the men extend their arms and call his name to come to them.

However, their striking resemblance bemused Gou Er, as he couldn't discern his father from his uncle, leaving him unable to choose which one was his dad.

His reaction prompted his family to burst into laughter.

Identical twins are less common than fraternal twins, which tend to run in families. However, research suggests that genetics may play a role in some cases of identical twins.
