This is the moment firefighters carefully remove seven rings from the swollen, ulcerated fingers of an 80-year-old woman with Alzheimer's.

Firefighters were called when the elderly woman's fingers began to swell and ooze pus in Chi'an Town, Yiwu City, China, on November 21.

The painful condition was caused by the numerous rings she had worn for years, which eventually grew into her flesh.

Due to her Alzheimer's, she refused to listen to family members who tried to persuade her to take them off.

Her daughter, who called the local fire brigade asking for help, explained that she was unable to take the woman to the hospital and could not travel there herself.

The team worked meticulously, using specialised tools such as insulated shears and steel pliers, while comforting the distressed elderly woman.

After over half an hour, they successfully removed seven rings made of various materials, including copper, alloy, and plastic.

Family members expressed deep gratitude to the authorities, who had turned an impossible task into a successful rescue.
