A man had to be rescued after a stainless ring was stuck on his swollen finger with infected wounds.

Footage shows the rescuers struggling to saw off the accessory off the 40-year-old man’s hand in Krabi province, Thailand on March 7.

He tried to pull the ring off on his own without success which left the skin around the ring scraped and bleeding.

The man’s relatives called the emergency services for help after they found him with struggling to remove the ring on his injured finger.

The team rushed the man to Krabi Hospital as the wounds had swollen and were believed to be infected.

While medics stood by waiting for the rescuers to remove the ring, volunteers used a metal grinder to cut it off.

The grinder started to heat off the metal accessory so they had to stop and place a metal sheet to act as an insulator between the ring and the man’s skin.

After more than half an hour, the ring was cracked and an expanding plier was used to release it from his finger.

Medics treated the man’s infected wounds afterward while relieved relatives thanked the rescuers for helping them.

A Krabi Pitak Pracha Foundation Rescue officer reminded people not to wear rings that are too small for them as they had seen an increase in similar cases asking them for assistance.

He said: ‘We are always glad to help, but please avoid wearing rings that are too small for your fingers. It might be stuck as our body changes everyday.’

The man was allowed to return home earlier that day with relatives after his wounds were cleaned and given some medicines.
