Côte d'Ivoire: Meeting of the Steering Committee of the UPOPCI Project FOR THE YEAR 2024
Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire - December 13, 2024 [Note: video contains French language] On December 12, 2024, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Silver Moon Hotel in Angré, a meeting of the UPOPCI Project Steering Committee was held. This initiative, led by UNIDO and funded by the Global Environment Facility (GEF), aims to reduce emissions of persistent organic pollutants (POPNI) and polybrominated diphenyl ethers (PBDEs) in the industrial waste sector in Côte d'Ivoire. Objectives: Validation of the 2024 reports: Presentation of the physical and financial results achieved according to the Annual Work Plan (AWP). Approval of the 2025 AWP: Definition of priorities and orientations for the coming year. Participants: 18 personalities, including government representatives, UNIDO, GEF, as well as technical experts and guests. Expected results: Knowledge of the achievements 2024. Validation and adoption of the PTA 2025. This strategic meeting is part of the fight against the environmental and health impacts of electronic waste and end-of-life vehicles in Côte d'Ivoire, while strengthening institutional capacities and promoting economic opportunities linked to sustainable waste management.
