Ground staff join charity plane pull at Liverpool airport
This is the heartwarming moment ground staff joined a plane pull contest to raise money for a children's charity in the UK.
Footage shows the employees in high-vis vests and Santa hats pulling a Boeing 737-800 along the Liverpool John Lennon Airport tarmac in Liverpool on December 11.
Eleven teams composed of local businesses and airport partners joined the activity to see who could pull the aircraft, decorated in reindeer antlers and a bright red nose, the furthest along the runway in one minute.
Security providers GSTS won with a distance pulled of 180 feet (55 metres).
The event was expected to raise over 15,000 GBP for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
Heather Jones, Liverpool Airport Station Manager for Jet2.com that provided the plane, said: 'We are delighted to have played a part in this terrific event by providing an aircraft to be used for the plane pull and to have helped raise vital funds for Alder Hey Children's Charity.
'It was fantastic to see so many people from across the airport and region come out and get involved for such a worthy cause. A big well done to the winning team for pulling the aircraft the furthest in just a minute!'
Ellie Freestone, Corporate Partnerships Manager at Alder Hey Children's Charity said: 'It was wonderful to see so many teams come together and get involved to support Alder Hey, the event certainly brought out some friendly competition!
'All of the money raised will go towards equipment for our new Surgical Neonatal Unit, helping us provide vital care to some of our smallest and most vulnerable patients. Thank you so much to all the teams who took part and to Liverpool John Lennon Airport for their ongoing support, we simply couldn't do it without you!'
