China - December 20, 2024 New energy vehicles surpass 40% of China's auto sales for first time (Voice_over) Recent data from the China Association of Automobile Manufacturers shows sales of new energy vehicles in the country in the first 11 months of the year surpassed 40 percent for the first time ever. According to the group, roughly 11.3 million NEVs were produced between January and November this year, with about 11.2 million sold. The figures represent a more than 34 percent increase in production and a more than 35 percent increase in sales from the same period last year. In November alone, the report says, about 1.57 million units were produced and 1.51 million were sold for a year-on-year increase of more than 45 percent and 47 percent, respectively. Officials from the association say the country's healthy NEV sales and production numbers are underpinned by consumer incentives and national trade-in policies.
