Yak's brutal attack leaves woman injured outside noodle shop in China
On December 20 in Zhengzhou, Henan, a woman walking past a noodle shop was knocked to the ground by a yak tied up outside the entrance, sustaining multiple injuries.
Surveillance footage shows the woman walking down the street, looking at her phone, unaware of the yak tied near the shop entrance. As she approached, the yak suddenly attacked, using its horns to knock her to the ground.
The woman suffered multiple injuries, including severe damage to her hand, swelling on her right cheek, bruising around her eye, and redness and swelling on her thigh and knee.
After the incident, the noodle shop initially claimed the yak belonged to their headquarters, which had placed it there for promotional purposes and was unrelated to their operations. They offered 5,000 yuan as compensation for her medical expenses. However, the woman rejected the offer, stating it was insufficient to cover her actual damages.
The brand headquarters for the noodle shop later intervened, taking full responsibility for the incident. They promised to cover all medical treatment costs and stated that further compensation would be negotiated.
Local community officials and police launched an immediate investigation. Community staff revealed that the yak was brought in for promotional activities without prior notification. The yak has since been removed to prevent similar incidents, and police are continuing to investigate the matter, promising to handle it according to the law.
