Woman accidentally enters identical car after key fob unlocks wrong vehicle
A woman accidentally entered a car identical to her own - after her key fob unlocked someone else's vehicle.
Billie J Betzer, 32, returned to her car after a doctor's appointment at the Pacific Fair Shopping Center last month in Arundel, Australia.
But unknowingly, she entered a stranger's car, which was identical to her own 2009 Mitsubishi Outlander - the same make, model and colour.
After stepping out of the vehicle, Billie was left stunned when she realised that her car's key fob could unlock a completely different vehicle due to a rolling code glitch.
Billie, a DJ and producer from Arundel, Gold Coast, Australia, said: "I came out of the doctor's appointment and saw what I thought was my car parked nearby."
"I unlocked it, jumped in and immediately thought ‘Something's not right.'"
It wasn't until she spotted disco ball decorations in the rear view mirror that she realised she was in the wrong vehicle.
Billie stepped out and noticed her car parked right next to it.
To her shock, her key fob unlocked both cars simultaneously.
She said: "I tested it a few times and it kept working. "
"I couldn't believe it."
"I thought this technology was supposed to be secure."
"It felt like a glitch in the matrix."
