Cape Canaveral, United States - January 5, 2025 SpaceX set a new record on January 5, 2025, with the successful launch and landing of its Falcon 9 rocket for a Starlink mission, marking the 25th time the company has recovered an orbital-class rocket booster. The mission, Starlink 12-12, lifted off from Space Launch Complex 40 (SLC-40) at 2:11 p.m. EST, continuing SpaceX's rapid pace of orbital launches. This marks SpaceX's 5th Falcon 9 launch of 2025. The Falcon 9 first stage booster, tail number B1067, had already made 24 successful landings before returning to the droneship ‘Just Read the Instructions’ a little more than eight minutes after liftoff. This achievement brought SpaceX's total booster landings to 395. The mission also carried 21 Starlink satellites, 13 of which feature Direct to Cell capabilities, designed to provide emergency connectivity, particularly for areas impacted by disasters such as the ongoing fires in the Los Angeles area. In response to the fires, SpaceX is providing a month of free Starlink service to affected individuals and has sent free kits to aid agencies and shelters. The successful flight and booster recovery exemplify SpaceX's ongoing commitment to innovation and efficiency in space exploration and disaster relief efforts.
