INTERVIEW at the Rose Bowl in Pasadena, California, a staging and housing area for Cal Fire. A handsome and charismatic Inmate FireFighter, who has been fighting the Altadena Fire along with dozens of others from the Jenner Canyon Conservation Camp, shares his experience clearing vegetation and serving on the fire line, as other inmates relax during their lunch break around him, waiting for their next assignment.

Fenner Canyon Conservation Camp #41 is jointly operated by the California Department of Corrections and Rehabilitation (CDCR) and the California Department of Forestry and Fire Protection (CAL FIRE). The camp’s primary mission is to provide incarcerated fire crews for assignments in Los Angeles, Kern and San Bernardino Counties, however, crews can be dispatched throughout the State.
