Border security efforts resumed with rows of buoys placed along the Rio Grande River.

Bullish officials in Texas ramped up the state's controversial defence measures following President Donald Trump's inauguration.

Governor Greg Abbott shared a video on January 20 of the massive floating barriers being installed at the Texas-Mexico border, highlighting the state's 'commitment to curbing illegal crossings'.

The buoys, previously deployed as part of a state initiative, are designed to deter migrants from entering Texas unlawfully.

Abbott said: 'I look forward to continuing to work closely with President Trump to secure the border. America is back!'

Local media reported the installation of the first set of buoys on Friday, days before Trump's inauguration. The row of buoys reportedly extends at least one kilometre.

On November 29, the U.S. Border Force apprehended 289 undocumented migrants in Texas. Authorities blocked the large group of unauthorised settlers crossing into Maverick County.

Among those detained were seven Special Interest Aliens (SIAs) from Iran, individuals flagged from countries of heightened security concern.
