Elaborate birthday cake collapses while being displayed
An elaborate birthday cake collapsed while being displayed at a party.
Footage shows the four-tier floral upside-down dessert being installed by baker Jrosyl Alob Tahil when it slipped off the hook in Davao del Norte, the Philippines, on January 3.
However, the cakes were only dummy desserts for display, which would have to be piped later for decoration.
Jrosyl said: 'I do not know what I would do if the ones that fell were already decorated. Piping the icing also takes a lot of time.'
Dummy cakes are typically made of styrofoam or other lightweight, solid materials that resemble real cake layers. However, its decorations, such as frosting, piping, or fondant, are real and applied to mimic the appearance of a freshly made cake.
