Birthday cake spits out surprise money at party
A birthday cake spat out surprise money for a mother's 51st birthday in the Philippines.
Elizabeth Gonzales was having a party with family at a restaurant when her gold-coloured single tier dessert was brought out in Laguna province on October 13.
Footage shows the delighted mum pressing a button on the cake before the streams of banknotes were spewed out. Elizabeth's children helped her collect the money that were scattered on the floor.
Her daughter Leslie said her sister ordered the cake from a specialised bake shop.
She said: 'My sister Liezle got it from Shayne Ann's Cake. We were so happy that it was successful and really showered our mum with money.'
A 'money cake' in the Philippines is a popular and creative way of giving cash as a gift, typically for special occasions such as birthdays, weddings, or anniversaries.
It looks like a regular celebratory cake, but a hidden compartment or mechanism holds rolled-up bills or an attached string of cash underneath.
