A tourist had a near miss when their bald tyres sent them over the edge of a cliff.

A red Mahindra Thar SUV skidded off the roadway and crashed into the roadside barrier near Lingti waterfall in Samling, India, on January 28.

Footage shows the front of the four-wheeler dangling in the air with its rear end anchored on the concrete barricade.

Quick-thinking locals rescued the holidaymakers driving the vehicle and used a rope to tow the car back onto the road.

The vacationers did not sustain any serious injuries from the incident.

Filmer Rattan Dhillon said: 'God was gracious today as we, along with locals, successfully recovered a tourist Thar that had skidded near the Lingti waterfall.

'Thankfully, the vehicle was stopped by the edge of a bridge, and all passengers are safe. It wasn't caused by the GPS, the tyres were not good enough to hold grip so the vehicle skidded.'
