STORYLINE:
Swiss light artist Gerry Hofstetter has celebrated the Chinese New Year with zodiac-themed projections.
On the northern slope of Piz Palu, located in eastern Switzerland at an elevation of 3,900 meters, a 3.5-kilometer-long and 500-meter-wide "snake" image was created this year.

"I decided to project this on the glacier, because the glaciers are going like a snake from the mountains through the valleys. And we have now also United Nations' the International Year of Glaciers' Preservation. And snakes, especially this tiger python is also protected. So I thought it's a good idea having the character of a glacier with a character of a snake, combining together."
Hofstetter also encouraged cultural exchanges between China and Switzerland.
SOUNDBITE 2 (English): GERRY HOFSTETTER, Swiss light artist
"I wish the Chinese and all the Asian people for the New Year of Snake, a healthy, a peaceful year, a prosperous year."
Xinhua News Agency correspondents reporting from Geneva, Switzerland.
