February 6 marks the one-year countdown to the opening ceremony of the Milan-Cortina 2026 Olympic Winter Games.
In an interview with Xinhua in Rome on Monday, Giovanni Malago, president of the Fondazione Milano Cortina 2026, expressed optimism about the progress of new venue constructions.
Malago also emphasized the growing collaboration between Italy and China in the realm of winter sports.

"The relation between Italy and China, of course, I can speak under sports items, is very, very strong. All my colleagues, international colleagues, IOC (International Olympic Committee) colleagues, know deeply that this friendship is concrete. Relations started many, many years ago. It is very loyal."
Malago underscored the importance of expanding the global reach of winter sports, particularly through events like the Asian Winter Games.
The 9th Asian Winter Games will be held in northeast China's Harbin City from February 7 to 14.
