A drowning dog that was spotted floating in the sea was rescued by the crew from a passing ferry.

The pooch was drifting in the water when the boat captain stopped so his colleagues could save near the island of Koh Chang in Trat province, Thailand, on January 29.

Footage shows the canine being fished out of the sea using a rope. The men lifted it and helped it onboard.

The dog was not aggressive and rested with the workers who fed it a meal.

Passenger Chansuda Chomkul said: 'We were heading to Koh Chang island in the morning. It fell from another ferry that passed by an hour before us.

'The dog had been swimming for almost two hours when the crew saved it. It did not bite and was aggressive.'

Thailand, a largely Buddhist nation, believes that kindness towards animals should be encouraged, with temples sometimes being a safe refuge for stray cats, dogs, and even monkeys that don't have homes.
