Recently, an "automatic pancake-making robot" has appeared outside a Beijing subway station. The entire process—from preparing the batter, spreading it on the griddle, cracking an egg, sprinkling sesame seeds, flipping, brushing on sauce, adding toppings like spring onions and coriander, to packaging—is fully automated, requiring no human intervention.

Customers can place an order by scanning a QR code on the machine, customising their pancake by choosing between plain or ham-filled versions and selecting toppings such as spring onions, coriander, and chilli.

Public reactions to the robot-made *jianbing* have been mixed.

Ms. Li, a customer, noted that the robot takes about two to three minutes to make a pancake. She highlighted its advantages in terms of consistency, efficiency, and improved hygiene by eliminating human handling. However, some customers felt that the taste differed slightly from traditionally handmade *jianbing*.
