A loyal pet dog walked slowly alongside his frail owner being aided by a cane.

The golden retriever would stop and pace his steps so he and the elderly man could walk together in Cavite, the Philippines.

Footage shows the brown pooch patiently waiting for the senior resident along the pavement.

The goldie would look at his companion seemingly checking on him as they moved along slowly on March 18.

Onlooker Blue Hernandez said: 'The place was a popular spot to cycle and run. While I was taking a break running, I witnessed the touching scene.

'The dog waited patiently while walking slowly with the old man.'

The canine stayed close to his owner and followed him, never leaving his side.

Blue added: 'They crossed the street and I felt a little anxious due to passing cars, but the dog was careful and constantly checked on his owner.'

In the Philippines, dogs are popular as both pets and guard animals. Many families keep dogs for companionship, security, and even as part of their daily lives.
