Storyline: Residents of Bangui, the capital of the Central African Republic, have been battling for water, as the city experiences an unprecedented water shortage. Taps have been dry for almost three weeks in Bangui, causing water hard to come by in their homes. As a result, many are forced to endure endless queues at water supply points, as they wait to fill their jerry cans with the precious liquid. Only one in three people in the Central African Republic has access to a basic water supply, according to the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs. Such a shortage is caused by the lack of investment in the water supply and treatment network, one of the main reasons that the water distribution company, SODECA, recently halted the water supply. Residents have been calling out to the authorities to intervene. However, local authorities claim that efforts are already underway to bring water to the population. As residents await these developments, the quest to quench their thirsts remains challenging. Shotlist: Bangui, Central African Republic - March 18, 2025: 1.
