On March 21, a sudden water pipe burst along Yanhe Avenue in Chibi, Xianning, Hubei Province, causing a massive surge of water to erupt from underground.

Surveillance footage captured the dramatic moment as the powerful water pressure broke through the pavement, sending panicked pedestrians scrambling for safety while water rapidly flooded the surrounding area, including nearby shops.

Local business owners reported that the water spouted nearly two meters high at its peak, submerging shop floors and soaking merchandise. Products such as alcohol and cigarettes, which are particularly sensitive to water damage, suffered significant losses, leaving shop owners facing considerable financial setbacks.

Upon learning of the incident, Chibi Water Supply Group swiftly dispatched repair teams to the scene. Workers shut off the valve to prevent further flooding and documented the damage to assist with later compensation discussions.

The water utility company assured the public that repairs were underway at full speed, with water supply expected to be restored by the evening.
