This is the shocking moment a pipe bursts, quickly flooding a street with murky brown water.

Dramatic footage shows a man rushing up to a car and alerting the motorist inside about the flooding road on Kargi Street in the Yahsi Neighbourhood of Bodrum, southern Turkey, on January 24.

He and a woman then retreat to the pavement as the car makes a three-point turn and drives away from the flood.

Local media reported that the pipe ruptured, causing wastewater to spill through the tarmac and inundate the roadway with tonnes of water.

A nearby house was also reportedly flooded.

Ceyhun Ozcelik, a university professor and civil engineer, stated that there had been several similar incidents in the area.

He added that each time the damaged pipe is repaired, the broader issues with water pressure in the system remain unaddressed, and unless these are fixed, similar incidents will continue in the future.
