Cargo plane crash lands in thick snow in Russia
This is the shocking moment a cargo plane crash landed in thick snow in Russia.
The Antonov An-12BK cargo plane, registered as RA-11371, plunged off runway 09 during landing at Novy Urengoy Airport (NUX) in Yamalo-Nenets Autonomous Okrug on March 26.
CCTV footage shows the out-of-control aircraft skidding across the tarmac, causing its left wing to dip and strike a snowdrift before veering off the runway. It then struck the accumulated powder, damaging its propellers.
Emergency responders, including the Ministry of Emergency Situations and an ambulance, rushed to assist the eight crew members onboard.
Authorities confirmed that no one sustained injuries in the incident.
An investigation revealed that the pilot had failed to deploy the landing gear properly before touchdown.
The aircraft, operated by ATRAN-Aviatrans Cargo Airlines, had departed from Sabetta International Airport bound for Novy Urengoy.
