Pakistan - March 27, 2025 At least seven people were killed in two attacks by suspected insurgents on a bus and a security personnel vehicle in the restive Balochistan province in southwestern Pakistan, police sources reported Thursday. The attack on the bus took place last night as the passenger vehicle was traveling the more than 500 kilometers between the cities of Gwadar, in Balochistan, and Karachi, in the southeastern province of Sindh, said Abdul Aziz, an officer at the Police Headquarters in Balochistan's capital, Quetta. "Unidentified gunmen kidnapped six strangers from a bus traveling from Gwadar to Karachi in the Pansi area and opened fire on them, killing five people and injuring another," the police officer added. The sixth person died of his injuries, another official said. In a second incident that also took place last night, gunmen opened fire on two members of the Counter Terrorism Department (CTD) during a roadblock on a highway between the cities of Quetta and Karachi. "A CTD assistant sub-inspector was killed in the shootout, while another officer was injured," added Officer Abdul Aziz. The officer said armed insurgents blocked roads in several areas of Balochistan, including Turbat, Pasni, Bolan, and Mastung. The attacks appear to be part of a series of coordinated attacks across Balochistan, where Baloch separatists seized control of several highways and carried out roadblocks on vehicles.
