MUZAFFARABAD, KASHMIR, PAKISTAN - MAY 7, 2025: Funeral prayers were held on Wednesday, May 7, for those killed in an Indian military strike targeting the Shawai neighborhood of Muzaffarabad, the capital of Pakistan-administered Kashmir. The attack came as part of a broader military operation announced by India, which reportedly includes strikes on selected targets within Pakistan and areas of Kashmir. Earlier, India said it launched missile attacks targeting nine sites of "terrorist infrastructure" in Pakistan and Pakistan-administered Kashmir. India reportedly fired missiles on the cities of Bahawalpur, Muridke, Sialkot, Shakargarh, Ahmadpur Sharqia, Muzaffarabad and Kotli from its airspace. In retaliation, Pakistan claimed its military downed five Indian Air Force jets, and a drone. Pakistani Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif said that India's strikes on Pakistani cities and Pakistan-administered Kashmir were a "cowardly attack" and that Islamabad was giving a “befitting reply” to the “act of war" by New Delhi as death toll from missile attacks climbed to 26.
