Government officials slammed for hiring strippers at event with children
Government officials have been criticised for hiring strippers at an event in Brazil attended by children.
Footage shows male entertainers simulating sex acts during a show that included teenagers and youngsters in the audience.
The event was organised by the City of Coelho Neto, Maranhao, on Saturday, March 29.
One male performer, wearing Baywatch-style red shorts, is seen gyrating as he dances for a woman. Clips also show a man in figure-hugging underwear thrusting his crotch into a woman's face as she places money into his pants.
Women and children are visible watching the show in the background. The video sparked outrage and quickly drew the attention of the police.
The Civil Police of Maranhao have reportedly launched an investigation into the 2025 edition of the Gincana da Mulher, an event held for women, where 'gogo boys' performed in front of an audience consisting mainly of women, children, and teenagers.
The Coelho City Hall has not yet responded to local media requests for comment.
Officials said the event was promoted by the Municipal Secretariat for Women in celebration of Women's Month. The stated objective was to 'promote female empowerment'.
A police investigation is ongoing.
