VARIOUS OF EVENING PRAYERAMSTERDAM, NETHERLANDS - MARCH 29, 2025: Hundreds of people on Saturday, March 29, gathered in the Dutch capital, Amsterdam, to protest Israel's renewed attacks on Gaza and to mark Palestinian Land Day, a symbol of resistance against Israel's occupation of Palestinian territories. Amnesty International and numerous NGOs came together in Amsterdam to condemn Israel's assaults on Gaza and commemorate Palestinian Land Day. A group of around 400 demonstrators assembled at Spui Square and marched to Dam Square, where they organized a street iftar on the last day of Ramadan. Protesters chanted slogans such as "Amsterdam says no to genocide," "Stop the hunger," "Free Palestine," "Stop the genocide in Gaza," "Shame on the Netherlands, your hands are stained with blood," and "Israel is a terrorist, Netanyahu is a terrorist." They also carried banners reading "No justice while lands are occupied," "Stop the genocide," and "No money for Israel’s crimes." Calling on the Netherlands to immediately cut its support for Israel, protesters highlighted Israel’s occupation of Palestinian land, its seizure of thousands of acres, and the dire humanitarian conditions in Gaza, where people are being left to starve. Speaking at the protest, Muhammet Karacabay, the Netherlands representative of the European Youth Association (AGD), criticized Israel’s occupation and annexation policies. "Israel continues genocide in Gaza. In the past 18 months, Israel has killed over 50,000 Palestinians, mostly women and children, in Gaza. Now, it is forcing millions to either die or leave their lands," he said. Following the march, protesters gathered at Dam Square, where they shared a communal street iftar despite the cold weather. The protest and iftar event lasted about four hours.
