Los Angeles, United States - April 09, 2025 04/09/2025 09:30 pm (GMT-0700) DOWNTOWN LOS ANGELES, Calif. – According to initial reports from the Los Angeles Police Department, around 9:30 p.m. on Wednesday, LAPD officers responded to the 400 block of 6th Street near San Julian Street for a trespass suspect in an apartment. Upon arrival, officers entered the apartment, and an explosion occurred. As they exited, the suspect proceeded to barricade himself inside the apartment. Initial information from the scene indicated that the suspect claimed they were "wired." The LAPD reported that SWAT and the Bomb Squad responded to the scene. Roads in the area were quickly closed off, and initial reports indicated individuals were evacuated from an apartment in the area due to a possible explosive device or material, which the LAPD could not confirm at the scene. The LAPD reported that the suspect surrendered at approximately 12:25 a.m. Thursday and was taken into custody. The area was still impacted by police presence while the Bomb Squad cleared the apartment. There are no further details at this time; however, any updates will be added to this report.
