On April 8th, at a scenic spot in Tengchong, Yunnan, a woman stood in front of a sink trying to wash her hands—but no matter what she did, no water came out of the faucet.

Unbeknownst to her, two of her family members decided to play a prank. They each took turns approaching the sink and making a bowing gesture toward the mirror above the faucet. Miraculously, water flowed each time, leaving the woman both amazed and confused.

Trying to follow suit, she also bowed and prayed sincerely toward the mirror, but still, no water came out. She began to wonder if her “heart wasn’t sincere enough.”

Little did she know, the faucet was actually foot-operated.

Eventually, her family let her in on the secret: the sink was designed to release water only when the foot pedal on the ground was pressed.
