Horror bee attack leaves 43 locals in hospital in the Philippines
This is the dramatic moment a swarm of furious bees divebombed locals, leaving at least 43 people injured.
The cloud of stinging bugs unleashed a frenzied assault after visitors poked their hive at the Energy Park in Davao del Norte , the Philippines.
Parkgoers screamed as they ran from the insects peppering them with painful stings.
Authorities said the mass bee attack left 43 people in the hospital on April 9.
The Tagum City Government said trained beekeepers were immediately dispatched to the scene to conduct 'fogging operations' to control the swarm.
It said in a statement: 'In this incident, 43 individuals were reported to be affected and were rushed to the Davao Regional Medical Center. As of April 10, 39 patients were declared stable and discharged, while four (4) remain in recovery.
'Personnel from the City Mayor's Office were sent to ensure that those affected are properly taken care of. Authorities are continuing to investigate what led to the incident.
'The City Government of Tagum gives top priority to ensure our public spaces are safe for all locals, especially our youth. This includes conducting regular fogging activity to avoid similar events.
'Please be advised, we are also requesting the public to approach the staff on duty if there is a beehive or other animal dwelling in the park. Please refrain from interfering or disturbing animals' homes without an expert nearby.'
Park operations proceeded as normal following the incident, officials said.
