Hundreds of journalists from various media organizations assembled at Bastille Square, staging a symbolic protest on the steps of the opera house to raise awareness of the plight of media workers in the besieged enclave. Wearing white vests marked "PRESS" with red stains symbolizing blood, the demonstrators carried photos of Palestinian journalists who lost their lives during the ongoing Israeli offensive. Banners reading “Stop the massacre of journalists, solidarity with our colleagues” were displayed throughout the protest. At least 211 Palestinian journalists have been killed in Israeli attacks in the Gaza Strip since October 2023, according to local authorities. The Israeli army renewed a deadly assault on Gaza on March 18, shattering a ceasefire and prisoner exchange agreement that took hold in January. More than 51,000 Palestinians, most of them women and children, have been killed in Gaza in a brutal Israeli onslaught since October 2023. The International Criminal Court issued arrest warrants last November for Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and his former Defense Minister Yoav Gallant for war crimes and crimes against humanity in Gaza. Israel also faces a genocide case at the International Court of Justice for its war on the enclave. Reporting by Esra Taskin // Writing by Mustafa Tuncer
