This is the dramatic moment shoppers fought over buns at a supermarket in China.

Chaos erupted at the store as customers scrambled for bargain bao buns causing a stampede in Binzhou, Shandong.

Footage shows bags of buns tossed into the air, with shoppers desperately grabbing them mid-flight while others picking them off the floor on April 13.

Others were seen pushing and shoving, with elderly customers being barged aside, while some had their bags snatched by those unwilling to queue.

The buns were sold for only CNY 1.29 (0.13 GBP) for a pack of four during the store's 44th anniversary celebration.

A store clerk recalled that as the market opened at 9 a.m., hordes of shoppers rushed to the pastry section to take advantage of the promotion.

One concerned customer said: 'This supermarket should not run promotions like this. Accidents could happen. It's just not worth it for a cheap deal.'
