Furious passengers lashed out at VietJet after being stranded for hours due to flight delays.

Hundreds of travellers were stuck at Tan Son Nhat Airport in Ho Chi Minh City, Vietnam, as their departures were postponed for more than 15 hours.

Footage shows tourists and locals crowding the information desk, with others confronting the ground crew on April 20.

One of the travellers said: 'Vietnamese locals and tourists are getting extremely upset. Flights have been delayed with no communication from the airline or updates.

'We have to stand in line for hours just to process a baggage claim ticket, and then wait more than five hours to get our luggage back.

'They completely ignore our questions. Plus, they keep checking in more people, knowing that everything is delayed. The airport is so chaotic and overcrowded, leaving people with no choice but to sleep and wait.'

A VietJet spokesman said that several flights to and from the airport were delayed on April 20 and 21 due to operational changes, seasonal congestion, and, primarily, VietJet's takeover of all ground handling services.

They said: 'VietJet acted promptly, coordinating closely with the Southern Airports Authority, Tan Son Nhat Airport, Immigration, Customs, SAGS, SASCO, SCSC, and other units. We also reported the situation to the Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam and received timely support from the authorities.'

In response to the incident, the airline offered goodwill compensation to passengers delayed by two hours or more by providing vouchers worth VND 500,000 (approximately 15.70 GBP) for domestic flights and VND 1,000,000 (approximately 31.40 GBP) for international flights.

The airline confirmed that operations at Tan Son Nhat and other related airports have since stabilised.

The Civil Aviation Authority of Vietnam reportedly dispatched a task force to inspect ground service operations at Tan Son Nhat, including those involving VietJet.
