I was training/shopping in HOME DEPOT when me and my trained dog were approached by of off leash, untrained and mildly aggressive dog. When the owner was asked to grab his dog he was slow to respond and allowed a potentially dangerous situation unfold. As
On April 26th I Samuel Hall was taking my trained dog Elliot to Home Depot in Oklahoma City to buy some screws and bolts for my motorcycle and to do some mild training to keep his training sharp. As we were shopping/ training. I noticed an off leash dog at the entrance of the store. Seeing this I took it upon myself to distance myself and head the other direction. Within 5 mins I noticed the owner of the off leash dog approaching us, an older man who was maybe 70-75 years old, upon seeing the man I witnessed a yellow lab charging towards us. Behind us was blocked off due to a forklift and straight was the only way out. I decided to hunker down and stand my ground and defend my dog, the dog was snipping, showing teeth and had its hair stood up along with its tail indicating mild aggression. I stuck my hand out to deter the dog from us. I raised my arms and voice to scare the dog away from us. All while this is happening I am asking the owner to please leash his dog. His response was “I do not own a leash” and I replied with “why the fu**” do you not own one?” All the while he is attempting to handle his dog via collar. As I notice the dog moving to the side and the owner moving as well, I see an opportunity to escape. When doing so the dog slips its collar coming back at my dog snipping at my dog, showing teeth with hair and tail raised. I then put myself between Elliot snd the yellow lab and tell the man if he doesn’t get his dog I will kick it. I continuously as the man to “get your fu**ing dog” and to that his response was “don’t curse at me” disregarding the potential dog fight that was about to happen, he gets in my face and attempts to hit me with his hand/paper. I move backwards due to being cornered and continue to defend and keep the yellow lab and man at a distance. Soon the dog attempts to move behind and I see this as an opportunity to escape. Upon escaping we head to the cash register to leave, I realize that it is appropriate to contact a manager of Home Depot about this issue and have something done about this. After waiting for 10 mins for a manager one finally approaches me and asks me what happened, i explain and tell her an unleashed dog is in the store and attempted to attack my dog, and that the owner got aggressive with me and did nothing about his off leash dog. As im explaining the situation to her the dog appears out of an isle with the owner nowhere in sight. Running around chasing people who do not want to be approached by the dog, i explain to her that, that is the dog. She looks and pays little attention to the fact and then takes my name and number down. I then as to be escorted to a cashier to check out due to the dog blocking us from doing so. The lady agrees and walks me to a near by cashier all the while the dog is STILL making rounds around the store off leash. After we purchase our items I put Elliot into the truck and notice I left one of my items in the store. When I go back in to grab my item I see the dog and owner walking around while the manager does nothing, along with a plethora of employees doing nothing about it as well. I go back out to get into my truck when I see the dog leaving the store without its owner, running into the parking lot aimlessly. Running up to people trying to avoid the dog, running behind cars, and running towards other dogs. After this goes on for 10 mins the owner finally comes out and starts to load his white f250 work truck. He Ignores the fact that his dog is continuing to run around and into danger. Finally after he’s done, he has his dog get into the car and leaves.
