Royal Air Force (RAF) Typhoons and the Red Arrows flew over London to commemorate the 80th anniversary of Victory in Europe Day.

Twenty-three aircraft flew over The Mall and Buckingham Palace as part of the national commemorations for VE Day on May 5.

Typhoon multi-role aircraft from 29 Squadron and 12 Squadron were launched from RAF Coningsby in Lincolnshire. They were joined by several other RAF planes, including the P-8 Poseidon, A400M transport aircraft, F-35s, and the Red Arrows aerobatic team.

Stunning footage shows the aircraft trailing red, white, and blue smoke across the sky.

VE Day marks the end of World War II in Europe, with victory declared on May 8, 1945.
