Cops seize 'stolen luxury yacht' in dramatic water chase in Florida
Police seized a stolen luxury yacht following a dramatic water chase in Florida.
Deputies from the Martin County Sheriff's Office pursued the stolen vessel through the Intracoastal Waterway on Monday, May 5.
Footage shows officers boarding a speedboat and heading out to locate the yacht.
Reports said the 66ft yacht was stolen from Blowing Rocks Marina in Tequesta earlier in the evening. The suspect, identified as Nikolai Vilka, a Russian national, attempted to flee through the waterway.
Martin County's ground units, marine units, SWAT team, criminal investigations detectives, and MCSO Air One participated in the operation.
The watercraft was quickly located and surrounded by sheriff's boats, leaving the suspect with no escape route.
Nikolai reportedly does not speak English. The Department of Homeland Security is assisting with the investigation and is providing a Russian interpreter for communication.
