VARIOUS OF HUNDREDS OF PROTESTERS IN PARIS MARCHING WHILE HOLDING PALESTINIAN FLAGS, ANTI-ISLAMOPHOBIA BANNERS, SHOUTING SLOGANSPARIS, FRANCE - MAY 11, 2025: Protesters marched in Paris and other cities across France on Sunday, May 11, to denounce rising Islamophobia and demand justice for Aboubakar Cisse, a young Muslim man who was fatally stabbed in a mosque last month. Demonstrations took place in Paris, Marseille, and Lyon in response to growing anti-Muslim sentiment in French politics and media. In Paris, the march began at Place de la Bastille and ended at Place de la Nation, with protesters chanting slogans such as “Stop Islamophobia,” “Justice for Aboubakar,” and “Islamophobia kills.” Participants criticized Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau's stance on immigration and Muslim communities, holding signs that read “Retailleau, Aboubakar’s blood is on your hands.” Leftist politicians, including Jean-Luc Melenchon and Aymeric Caron, joined the demonstration. Many demonstrators also carried Palestinian flags and keffiyehs, expressing solidarity with Gaza and condemning Israel’s military campaign. Writing by Aleyna Cil
