Russia marks 80th anniversary of WWII victory with fireworks
Russia marked the 80th anniversary of its World War II victory with a fireworks display.
Dramatic footage captures the spectacular aerial show as locals marked Victory Day in St Petersburg on May 9.
World War II, fought from 1939 to 1945, resulted in an estimated 60 to 80 million deaths. The conflict saw the Allied Powers - including the United States, the Soviet Union, and Great Britain - fighting against the Axis Powers, primarily Germany, Italy, and Japan.
During the war, while officially neutral at the outset, Thailand soon fell to the Japanese when they invaded on December 8, 1941. The Japanese occupied the country until the end of the war in 1945.
