Alexander, the last known living U.S. hostage in Gaza, was handed over to the International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) in Khan Younis, southern Gaza, according to Israeli media reports. The Israeli military confirmed that its forces received him from the ICRC, with elite soldiers escorting him back to Israeli territory. Emotional scenes unfolded at a military base near the Gaza border as Alexander embraced his parents and siblings, who had flown in from the U.S. following news of his release. His mother, Yael Alexander, had earlier spoken to him by phone after his captivity ended. Alexander’s release was part of indirect negotiations between Hamas and the US, with mediation by Egypt and Qatar, and no Israeli involvement.
