A video released by the Prime Ministry showed Dbeibeh shaking hands and speaking with members of the security forces, reinforcing his government’s stance on restoring state authority. Later in the day, the prime minister held talks with prominent figures from Tripoli and his hometown Misrata to address the recent violence. The meeting, held at the Prime Ministry building, focused on security developments after government forces launched an operation against illegal armed factions in Tripoli’s Abu Salim district on May 13, according to a statement by the government-affiliated Hakomitna platform. The clashes erupted after the killing of a militia leader from the Stability Support Unit on May 12. The government confirmed that the 444th Brigade, under the Defense Ministry, had seized the militia’s headquarters in Abu Salim. Fighting flared again on May 14 between state forces and the Rada militia, one of Tripoli’s strongest armed factions, with plumes of smoke seen across the city. The Defense Ministry later announced a ceasefire to "protect civilians." Muhammad Abdul Wahab, a health official in Tripoli, reported six dead and 70 wounded over two days of clashes.
