Israeli airstrikes kill 91 in Gaza
Storyline: Israel's intensive airstrikes across the Gaza Strip on Monday killed at least 91 people, with a blockade of food, medicine and other supplies since early March worsening the humanitarian situation in the besieged enclave. Mahmoud Basal, spokesman for the Civil Defense in Gaza, said Israeli forces had been bombing multiple areas of Gaza since the early hours of Monday, with the attacks continuing into the afternoon. Meanwhile, the Israeli military had also expanded its ground operations in Gaza. The Israeli military announced a large ground assault in Gaza on Sunday, which resulted in numerous civilian casualties. Since Israel resumed its military offensive on March 18, 2025, at least 3,193 Palestinians have been killed and 8,993 others injured, Gaza-based health authorities said on Sunday. The Hamas-run media office stated on Monday that signs of famine and a humanitarian crisis in Gaza are deteriorating at an alarming rate, posing a serious threat to civilian lives. Currently, Gaza requires at least 500 trucks per day to deliver food, emergency aid, and medical supplies, along with 50 fuel tankers to transport essential fuel. Eden Bar Tal, director general of Israel's Ministry of Foreign Affairs, said on Monday that baby food had started entering the Gaza Strip by truck that day, and that Israel will facilitate the entry of dozens of aid trucks into Gaza in the coming days. The Times of Israel quoted an Israeli official on Monday saying that another batch of flour, baby food, and medical supplies will be allowed to enter Gaza. The Hamas-run media office later issued a statement saying that the Israeli military currently permits only nine trucks carrying baby food into Gaza, but these supplies are merely a drop in the bucket and fall far short of meeting the basic needs of the people. The office urged the Israeli military to unconditionally open the crossings and allow full access for humanitarian aid into Gaza. Shotlist: Jabalia, Gaza Strip - May 14, 2025: 1.
